In December, The Conversation ran a story on which rural development was the most popular.
It was based on a survey conducted by local developer Landline in partnership with the Australian National University (ANU) and the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Landline found that in 2016, the most-visited rural development centre was the Rural Development Hub (RDH) in Melbourne, which had a population of around 10,000 people.
RDH was followed by the Rural Infrastructure Hub (RHI) in Adelaide and the National Rural Infrastructure Facility (NRIF) in Canberra.
Landlines report was published on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the ANU told news.com.au that the RDH in Melbourne was one of the most visited in the country.
“The RDH is one of Australia’s most visited urban development hubs and has seen record-breaking growth since its inception in 2002,” the spokesperson said.
“Its rapid growth in recent years has been fuelled by a mix of state and federal funding, and by a steady stream of new developments, many of which are designed to create a sense of community, provide jobs and create more value to local communities.”
There are also the growing number of RHI and NRIF developments around Australia, such as the $20 million development of the National Rail Link in Victoria and the $5.6 million project to develop a $50 million precinct in Western Sydney.
“The Rural Infrastructure Centre in Adelaide was the second most visited rural development hub.
In 2018, the RHI in Adelaide saw a 4.4 per cent increase in visitors.
The NRIF in Canberra was the third most visited.
“RDHs in Melbourne are a unique case in that they were originally built to serve a specific urban area. “
It is important to note that all the RDHIs are not built in the same fashion and are built in a different way, depending on their design and location,” the ANA spokesperson said in an email.

The RDHS was also one of two RDH’s built in Canberra to house the National Library. “
In addition to a host of other features, the site offers a range of social facilities including a community pool, gym, sauna and cinema.”

It opened in October 2019.
“There are now more than 1,000 RHIs built across Australia, and the RDHD is the largest urban development hub in the world,” the RWA spokesperson said of the RDHA in Adelaide.
“We are proud to have built the RDHE in Adelaide in the heart of our capital city, a community centre that will benefit from the robust, local, community based economy that is driving the region’s growth.”
