Italian soccer club’s future is uncertain after club president resigns

Italia Football Italiano/Getty ImagesRome (AFP) – Italia football club president Luca Maraldi has resigned, a day after he was appointed president of Juventus in a move to bring stability to the club.

Maraldi, who was previously in charge of Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina, said he was stepping down from his position as president of the Serie A club after his contract expired.

He was given the opportunity to take over from former coach Stefano Pioli and take over as honorary president at the end of the season.

The 44-year-old, who has spent the last 18 months at Juventus, had led the club since 2011.

He said on Twitter: “The last 18 years I’ve dedicated myself to improving our football and our team.”
