Jammu and Kashmir has the highest percentage of rural residents with no access to health care.
The number of rural patients with no health care has grown by over 40 percent since 2016.
A study by the Centre for Rural Development Research, which looked at rural health systems in India, found that rural health care was the third most neglected area in the country.
In rural India, over two-thirds of the population is still without health care, and only about two-fifths of rural health facilities are equipped with high-quality medical equipment, according to the study.
The health facilities in the areas that have high-end facilities include primary health care facilities, hospitals, and public hospitals, the report said.
